Beauty from botanical actives
New cosmetic ingredients from
the Italian company Indena
Milan, March 7th, 2005 – During the In-cosmetics 2005 international trade fair, Indena, world leader in botanical derivatives, will present four innovative products: Esculoside, Visnadine, Ferutinin and Ginkgo Biloba Terpenes Phytosome®.
Extracted from Horse Chestnut branches, Esculoside is a molecule which protects capillaries and preserves the integrity of perivascular tissue. It is particularly active on skin microcirculation as evidenced in clinical trials on women with venous stasis and evident signs of cellulite. This focus on microcirculation makes it a suitable ingredient therefore for a variety of cosmetic applications, ranging from anti-cellulite treatments to those preventing hair loss.
Visnadine extracted from Ammi visnaga is also a natural product, which is endowed with skin blood perfusion increasing properties.
Its profile also reveals strong antiphosphodiesterase activity however, helpful in inducing lipolysis in fat cells. The synergistic effects of these two properties make it an ideal treatment for cellulite and local adiposities. As demonstrated in clinical trials with High Performance Liquid Crystal Thermography, circulatory improvement can be assessed by an increase in skin temperature, without any evident signs of discomfort or erythema.
From Ferula hermonis, Ferutinin is a newly patented cosmetic ingredient, which has proven efficacious on human volunteers in increasing skin hydration, smoothness and elasticity, while reducing sebum production.
From Ginkgo biloba, Indena has extracted a particular fraction, containing unique terpenoids such as bilobalide and ginkgolides: these are potent inhibitors of Platelet-Activating Factor (PAF) mediated inflammatory response, making it an ideal product for sensitive skin against environmental allergens and pollutants. Ginkgo Biloba Terpenes Phytosome® has been tested on human volunteers presenting allergic contact dermatitis with the nickel patch test. Significant results were recorded over a 40-day period confirming its effectiveness. In addition, the complexation with phospholipids exploiting Indena’s patented Phytosome® technology (which increases absorption and biological activity) makes it particularly suitable for topical application in dermatitis conditions.
These innovative products are fruit of Indena’s botanical expertise and proof of its commitment to leading edge research in cosmetics.
Information on these products and more will be available at the Indena booth at In-cosmetics (D51/Hall22). All interested companies are welcome.
