WE EXCLUSIVELY MAKE PHARMACEUTICAL, NUTRACEUTICAL AND HEALTH PRODUCTS
With over 100 years of botanical expertise – providing scientific proof of the power of botanical-origin pharmaceutical and nutraceutical active ingredients – Indena is at the forefront of the challenge of ensuring everyone, at any age, can make positive lifestyle changes and lead a healthier life.
WE PROTECT AND PROMOTE HEALTH AND SAFETY
Our European plants are certified ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, and all the others will soon implement similar systems. This is only part of our constant effort to implement and update standards and programs to protect the health of anyone who comes into contact with our activities, analyzing and reducing risks and taking action in any critical sector.
WE GET WORKERS INVOLVED
In accordance with current regulatory provisions, we have activated health surveillance programs and workers to appoint representatives who participate in the bodies responsible for improving working conditions. Through periodic consultations, we aim to prevent risks and implement any methodological changes in risk assessment, ensuring safety measures evolve as needed.
WE ASSESS RISKS AND ENSURE WORKPLACE SAFETY
In line with ISO 45001 standards, workplace safety is measured through a methodical risk assessment. This involves analyzing each area, the operations performed, and the work organization. The assessment encompasses all risks, regardless of their severity, and is formalized in a dedicated document. To maintain compliance with the principles of health, safety, and environmental responsibility, we implement an HSE action plan covering all necessary measures.
WE IMPLEMENT PREVENTION AND PROTECTION MEASURES
We take various preventive and protective actions, including implementing improvement plans where possible. Corrective measures may involve new operating procedures, facility maintenance, adoption of automated systems, installation of closed-loop facilities, replacement of hazardous substances or products, the provision of new individual and collective protective equipment, and regular training activities for both employees and temporary workers.
WE CONTINUOUSLY OPTIMIZE SAFETY MEASURES
We are constantly working to optimize activities that could pose dangers or lead to illness. To this end, we continuously develop and implement organizational and procedural improvements, including the monitoring of workplace parameters, to enhance worker protection and well-being.
ACTION
To thrive in the long term, people must be able to respond to change, challenges and crises: a precious resilience that must be built over time, with strong vision and a collaborative spirit.
In partnership with our suppliers, we manage the supply chain in the name of ethics and quality to safeguard the people who live in the areas where we harvest plants or manufacture our products. To improve their living conditions through training, education and modern infrastructures, and most importantly open up their future to better opportunities.
Education: sustainability’s multiplying factor
We support local communities, often in collaboration with various Italian universities and education institutions. In particular, we often offer training, internships and coaching to recent graduates and undergraduates to prepare them for employment, and sponsor doctoral programs in drug sciences and green chemistry that focus on studying and developing methodologies to reduce the environmental impact of our industry.
We also invest in local communities through donations and sponsorships, mainly in the form of grants and scholarships to several universities.
By aligning with our Code of Ethics, all our employees, collaborators and stakeholders share the same values and the same drive towards the mission of improving people’s health: this makes them invaluable resources to us, which we are proud to support in any way we can.
To successfully attract and retain skilled human resources, Indena works with determination to empower its staff, improve internal information flows, respect a positive balance between work, family and leisure, enforce equal pay and career prospects, and foster top-level professional integration and safety at the workplace.
We support and motivate our employees through constant advanced training, enhancing each person’s professional experience and skills according to their specific needs and talents, providing the clarity, support and tools they need to grow. We also empower them to influence their own career trajectory. We put a special focus on developing the potential of young people with excellent academic backgrounds.
We treat each individual – including both internal and external stakeholders, regardless of their social identity group or belief system – fairly and equitably, ensuring they feel a sense of belonging. We know that diversity, equity and inclusion matter because they help build a fair society that allows people to access equal opportunities. As an international company, we strive to bring together people, perspectives and ideas to help create stronger bonds amongst individuals.
We believe in employees having a voice, understanding how key decisions impacting them are made, being engaged and trusting Indena to act in ethical ways. We regularly listen to our employees and act on the feedback they provide, communicating with them honestly.
Indena actively works to give back and make a positive impact on the world; our employees are encouraged to participate in these efforts and feel energized by our mission and values. We ensure individual goals are aligned to company objectives, to increase everyone’s sense of purpose and the meaning they see in their work.
Our work constantly follows and respects the International Conventions on Human Rights, Labor Standards and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
In addition, we have developed our own Code of Ethics to set forth the principles and the values that guide us in our daily activities and business development.
