Go to sectionTechnology is our greatest ally in innovating our business, optimizing the use of natural resources, and turning our footprint into positive environmental impact. That’s why our facilities have always invested in advanced equipment, not only for best-in-class production but also for improved efficiency and energy self-production, as well as waste and water management.
Nature provides us with invaluable inspiration and raw materials: but only technology can help us protect our planet – and the People who live on it.
Energy transition focusing on renewable sources:
200 MWh/year energy production in the photovoltaic plant in Tours, since 2018
Over 70% of the site’s electricity needs covered by the cogeneration plant 200-kWp photovoltaic plant (which began operating in 2023)
800-kWp photovoltaic plant, projected to maximize self-consumption (80%) and cover around 20% of the site’s electricity needs
101-kWp photovoltaic plant
Environmental Management System Certification
ACTION
We can keep growing only in the name of sustainability, actively tackling one of the most urgent global challenges we have ever confronted: climate change.
WE HAVE A DEDICATED ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
We have appointed a specific committee to oversee environmental issues, maintain standards and make progress. Our European plants have already earned the ISO 14001 certification, and all the others will soon implement similar certified systems.
The smart use of energy is rooted in our corporate philosophy. Indena has always been oriented and committed to saving energy, reducing consumption and achieving high levels of energy self-production. Our biggest goal is to manage growing energy needs in a sustainable way: a complex challenge that requires a variety of interconnected actions.
Thanks to our investments in energy efficiency and renewable sources, we have progressively reduced our absolute energy consumption in the past few years.
We have installed several photovoltaic plants in all of our manufacturing sites, in order to sustainably self-produce energy and reduce purchases from non-renewable sources; we expect to reach and surpass 4 MW of photovoltaic power generation by 2026.
